Loss and Reconciliation
Installation video work
1999
Loss and Reconciliation was a video, light, and sound installation about confronting a traumatic experience of loss through an exploration of memory and remembrance, memorial and intergenerational continuity, and loss and reconciliation in relation to the death of a close relative.
Visitors to the exhibition underwent a series of experiences when physically moving through the space and possible identification with imagery contained in the video component of the work. Dichotomy (in terms of form and content), light modulation, and recorded sound, was employed to convey the intended meaning.
